'Tis the season to be jolly and deck the halls - and support Black-owned businesses.

Many small businesses have been affected by the global pandemic, especially Black-owned companies and entrepreneurs. While you’re shopping for those on your nice list this year, consider buying from Black-owned businesses, as many have been forced to shut down at disproportionate rates over the course of the pandemic, especially female-led Black-owned businesses; Forbes reported nearly half had to close their doors due to COVID-19.

We included a handful of Black-owned businesses in our FIT4MOM Holiday Gift Guide this year, like The Tiny Tassel, Bolé Road Textiles, Eu'Genia Shea, Estelle Colored Glass, and more, because purchasing from Black-owned businesses this holiday season -- and beyond -- helps close the racial wealth gap, strengthens local communities, fosters job creation, celebrates Black culture and serves communities, holds other companies accountable, and creates visibility and representation in the economy (Green America, 2020).

Whether you’re shopping for your BFF, sister, partner, mom, or yourself (you deserve it), below is a list of Black-owned businesses to support this holiday season, in the near year, and beyond.

Ready to cheers away 2020?! *us too* Raised among the vines of Monterey, California and Marlborough, New Zealand, winemaking was in the McBride Sisters’ roots. McBride Sisters has grown into what is not only the largest Black-owned wine company in the United States, but one of the most inclusive, accessible, socially aware, and sustainable. With holiday parties happening over Zoom, pick up a bottle for yourself and a co-worker or your friends & fam to celebrate the season, virtually.

We know most parents fuel up with and run off caffeine, so BLK & BOLD has got you coffee lovers covered! Not only is this coffee amazing, but we also love their company values; BLK & Bold is a Certified B Corporation and contributes 5% of their profits to support at-risk youth both locally and nationally. It also has 4.7/5 stars on Amazon, so the reviews speak for themselves.

Ready to have some time off to put your feet up, put on a face mask, and chill this season?! We know you are! This year has been a long one, and I’m personally taking any pick-me-up I can get, especially when it has collagen in it. KNC Beauty sells all-natural collagen-infused lip masks, lip balm, retinol-infused eye masks, and super cute sets that make the perfect gifts for those on your nice list!

Shopping for my man’s beard, I stumbled upon Scotch Porter at Target. What I love most? Their beard products contain NO Sulfates, Silicones, Petrolatum, Parabens, Mineral Oil, Synthetic Colors, Phthalates, PEG’s, or Animal Ingredients and are not tested on animals. (They’re also color-safe). The products are great AND the packaging is beautiful, so that’s a win-win on my list.

Have a wellness guru on your list? Shopping for a mom who is really in need of some TLC after the longest, most exhausting year ever? Give the gift of Golde self-care, from stocking stuffers to all-in-one kits. You’ll find DIY matcha kits, superfood masks, superfood latte kits, and more on their website. Their branding is the prettiest, so anyone would be thrilled to unwrap something from Goldie!

Briogeo has THE cutest and best holiday gift sets this year! Their high-quality hair care collection is naturally based, yet performance-driven to provide visible results. “We should treat our hair the same way we treat our skin; by nurturing it with ingredients that detoxify, hydrate, and protect,” says Nancy Twine, CEO & Founder.

Do you dread shaving because of sensitive skin or want to take a bath that can take the edge off a long day? I hear ya, girlfriend. I think this set is one of my new favorites, but all Oui the People products are a dream because they were made to turn shaving into a ritual, and one that doesn’t suck. Whether you’re looking for ingrown hair prevention or looking to shop sustainability this season, look no further. “This is our commitment to changing the language of beauty. No perfecting, flawless, nor anti-aging claims. Just efficacious, thoughtful, and damned good products that help you feel amazing in your own skin” is one of their taglines, and I couldn’t love that more!

Skincare experts suggest incorporating Vitamin C serums into your daily routine, and while all of Thirteen Lune’s products are complete gems, the Buttah Vitamin C Serum is literally everything. Throughout pregnancy or postpartum, many women experience pigmentation issues or dark spots; this targets those to improve your skin’s luminosity, creating a more radiant and smoother complexion.

Tiffany, Dariel, and Elena are the family behind Bright Black Candles, and their mission is to make and share high-quality candles that honor the Black Diaspora. “When starting our family business, we knew we wanted to do more than ‘just’ sell candles. We wanted to bring about change and we wanted to help create a world where our daughter has access to positive representations of people who look like her. For us, and for so many like us, the Black Diaspora represents beauty, strength, joy, collectivism, and thriving. We’re using candles to share those positive representations” say the founders. Their candles are infused with love and smell divine.

Healthy Roots Dolls is a toy company that creates dolls and storybooks that empower young girls and represent the beauty of our diversity. Healthy Roots Dolls have a medley of facial features, skin tones, and hair textures that can be styled in countless ways. “Our dolls have multiple interests and aspirations which exposes young girls to their own unlimited career potential. Our goal is to represent the voices of young girls in the toy industry with products that empower, educate, and inspire self-love. Our mission is to bring curl power to the toy aisle with products that reflect the diversity of our reality.” I can’t say enough good things about the quality and mission behind these dolls. Kudos, Healthy Roots fam!

If you’re looking to find the perfect gift for yourself to hide under the tree or drop into your stocking (we won’t tell Santa!), shop for birthday presents after the holidays, get organized in the new year, give your house some decor love, or simply, just looking to shop from and support BIPOC-owned companies beyond the holiday season, below are some more we love and suggest checking out:

Any BIPOC small business you’re crushing on? We’d love to add them, so drop your suggestions and faves into the comments below.

“Make it a point to continuously shop and support Black-owned businesses, both in this moment and from here on out. Follow them on social and buy from them — then share your positive experiences with your network,” says writer Madge Maril in an article for The Zoe Report. We couldn’t agree more and look forward to entering a new year continuing to listen, grow, and learn.

Happy Holidays!
