Finding nutritious after-school snacks that your little ones in truly enjoy can sometimes be a challenge. With taste buds changing daily, a continuous stream of fresh snack ideas is welcome!

1. Apple Donuts

Classic apple slices and nut butter – upgraded! This balanced snack is a great way to squeeze in an extra serving of fruit, along with some healthy fats to support cognitive function – which is so important in those early years.

Nut butters such as almond, macadamia, pistachio, and hazelnut are packed with healthy fats, plant based protein, fiber and key nutrients to help children grow, develop, and learn.

To make these healthy apple donuts:

  • slice an apple into 1/2-inch circles
  • use a cookie cutter or knife to cut a hole in the centre – creating the"donut" shape
  • top with pistachio butter, almond butter, macadamia nut butter, hazelnut butter, or homemade healthy nutella
