Top Tips to Stay Cool & Hydrated in Summer at Stroller Strides
With the heat rising to the mid-90s and the sun is shining brighter than ever, we can smell fall just around the corner but we still have a few more months of this H-E-A-T. While we've been loving the fresh air and vitamin D, we know keeping cool during our Stroller Strides classes is getting increasingly difficult. We all want to ensure both mama and baby are comfortable and safe while getting fit outdoors!
If you've been wondering how to keep things chill during your workouts, here are some nifty tricks tailored for our Stroller Strides moms during those morning classes until we are blessed with that cool weather:
Clip-on Stroller Fan: This little device can be a game-changer. Attach a battery-operated fan to your stroller to provide a gentle breeze for you and your little one. The airflow not only cools but can also help keep pesky bugs at bay!
Cold Neck Wrap: On particularly scorching days, a cold neck wrap can be your best friend. Simply wet it, wring it out, and snap or shake it to activate the cooling effect. Wear it around your neck to stay cool during your stride.
Frozen Gel Pack: Keep one of these handy in your stroller's storage. Whenever you need a quick cool down, place it on your wrists or the back of your neck for immediate relief. (Pro-tip: Make sure it's wrapped in a cloth or inside a cover to avoid direct skin contact.)
Frozen Water Bottle Wrapped in a Towel: This dual-purpose trick provides a refreshing drink and acts as a cooling agent. As the ice melts, you'll have cold water on hand. And, if you wrap it in a towel, you can use it to dab your face or arms for a refreshing cool down.
Spray Bottle: Fill it with water (and optionally, a few drops of essential oils like lavender for an added cooling effect). A quick spritz on your face, neck, and arms can be incredibly invigorating!
STAY HYDRATED!: This can't be stressed enough. Our bodies need more water during the hot months. Drinking plenty of fluids keeps our internal temperature in check and helps replace the fluids we lose from sweating. If you're nursing, this becomes even more crucial. Make sure to nurse often so that your baby stays well-hydrated too. Dehydration can affect milk supply, so keep that water bottle close! We've added some of our instructor's favorite bottles to this list!
Stroller Strides sessions can be both fun and refreshing if you come prepared. It's essential to listen to your body and take breaks if needed. The well-being of you and your baby is always the priority.
